The Holidays Are Here!

christmas-1188254Is your diet looking forward to holiday parties?

Because you know that this is the time of year that all our good intentions meet their biggest challenge.

Here are the best ways to maintain the status quo:

  • Don’t go to holiday parties hungry. Make sure you are hydrated. Eat some veggies or nuts before you get there.
  • Focus on nonfood aspects of the party. Enjoy catching up with friends you haven’t seen for awhile. Enjoy the music and dancing. Join in on the fun of games.
  • Think calories. Alcohol has calories. Some holiday foods are high in calories. Limit the fudge and dip. Eat the carrots and celery. And celebrate your waistline.
  • Bring your own tasty, low calorie treats. Bring a fruit and veggie tray. I love it when someone has those alternatives available.
  • If you must have treats that make it “the holidays” keep them out of sight. Make the fruit cake or Aunt Edith’s cookies a treat every other day. Or just bring them out when you have company.
  • Look up low calorie alternatives to your favorite holiday meal dish. Here are results of Googling “low calorie green bean casserole”: www.eatingwell.com/recipe/250376/healthygreenbeancasserole/;  https://www.campbells.com/kitchen/recipes/lighter-green-bean-casserole/; https://dashingdish.com/recipe/skinny-green-bean-casserole: [I have given up the casserole and steam fresh green beans. I don’t even miss the fat and salt.]
  • Use bowls of fresh fruit as decoration. When you crave a sweet reach for a mandarin orange instead.
  • Remind yourself that any pounds you add now will be stressing you out in the new year. Motivate yourself to even lose a few pounds in December. That is my goal. I will be using the PhysIQ System. I have added incentive because a $25,000 contest begins January 1, 2017. It you want information about how you can lose weight and win at the same time contact me here.
